We’re consulting on the future of PSPOs in your local area and we want to hear from you.
A Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) is a tool available to Councils under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and are intended to be used to deal with a particular nuisance or problem in a specific area that is having a detrimental effect to the local community’s quality of life, by imposing conditions on the use of that area which apply to everyone. They are intended to help ensure that the law- abiding majority can use and enjoy public spaces, safe from anti-social behaviour.
The areas covered by the exisitng PSPOs include Lancaster City Centre, Morecambe, Lower Heysham (Covering Heysham village and barrows), Williamson Park and Happy Mount Park. Further information can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions and Maps to the right.
We are also taking this opportunity to re-introduce the previous PSPO's in relation to dogs, which were previously known as dog control orders.

The Public Space Protection Orders in Lancaster District expire in December 2024. This consultation is regarding the renewal of the PSPO's.
