The Council Housing service is reviewing our 2020 Allocation Policy (attached).
We are required to provide a policy on how we allocate residential accommodation from our own stock and from Private Registered Providers of Social Housing, whom we work in partnership with.
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has published guidance, regarding the allocation of accommodation, for local housing authorities in England, which is attached.
We have considered this guidance and how it should be applied to the 2020 Allocation Policy.
We then carried out an initial consultation, with partner agencies and Councillors, considering their comments and feedback. Responses to the questions raised, during this initial consultation, are attached.
We have now drafted an updated Allocation Policy. This policy is attached, along with a summary of amendments, for your consideration.
You should have received an invitation to an in-person consultation event, which was held at Morecambe Town Hall, on Monday 9th December 2024. At this event, attendees had the opportunity to discuss the proposed amendments to the policy with officers and share their opinions.
Please use the survey link below to provide your response to the proposed amendments to the policy.
This is the stage two of the consultation process, where we we share the draft Allocation Policy with partner agencies, Councillors, tenants and applicants. This consultation will close on 18th December 2024. Feedback from this consultation, and the in-person consultation, will be considered before preparing the final policy and submitting it to Cabinet for approval.
