Introduction

Lancaster City Council is consulting on a proposal to introduce two licensing schemes to improve the standards and management of housing in the private rented sector (PRS) in Morecambe and we want to know your views. You can do this by completing this questionnaire. The two schemes are:

Additional Licensing

Lancaster City Council currently operates a mandatory licensing scheme across the district as required by law for particular types of house in multiple occupation (HMOs). Additional licensing broadens the definition of a HMO, bringing more properties under the remit of HMO licensing.

Selective Licensing

Selective Licensing is a scheme which allows a local authority to introduce licensing conditions to all other private rented housing within a designated area.

The proposal is to introduce licensing to a particular area in Morecambe - covering Heysham North and West End Wards.

Your responses will be completely anonymous. However, if you wish Lancaster City Council to follow up on any of your answers, please provide us with your contact details within the questionnaire. All information collected in this questionnaire will be treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2018.

The survey should only take about 10 minutes to complete. This questionnaire will be available from Friday 2nd June until Friday 29th September.

Monday 11th September	In person event from 10am until 12pm at Stanleys Community Centre 79-83 Stanley Road Morecambe LA3 1UT	This is a drop in event so you can come along at any time to speak to a member of the team. This meeting is aimed at PRIVATE TENANTS
Wednesday 20th September	In person event from 6pm until 8pm at More Music 13-17 Devonshire Road, Morecambe LA3 1QT	This event is aimed at anyone who would be interested in attending to find out more.
Wednesday 27th September	Online event on TEAMS at 7pm until 8pm	If you are interested in attending, please email licensingconsultation@lancaster.gov.uk and we will send you a link to the meeting.
Thursday 28th September	In person event from 3pm until 5pm at Morecambe Town Hall	This event is aimed at anyone who would be interested in attending to find out more.
