We have an amazing opportunity to create a unique climbing wall by upcycling some spare flood defence walls left over from the Caton Road project.
The wall would comprise of 11 units, surrounded with appropriate soft surfacing for safety and then landscaped with screen planting
Green Ayre Park is both near to the Flood Defence project and next to a skate park.
'It is estimated that between 2012 and 2037 the population of Lancaster will increase by 5.9%.' Currently, the age group 15-24 has an above average proportion in the Lancaster district. The proportion will remain above average with time, because of universities, colleges etc. This means with time the demand of out door activities will increase and the climbing wall will be beneficial to 15-24 age group as well as 3-14 age groups.
The benefits of having a climbing wall are as follows:
Play area / climbing wall sustains the healthy benefit of development of children.
Children gross motor skills such as jumping, hand and leg muscles, will be strengthened, hand and leg coordination etc.
We would like to ensure residents are in favour before requesting planning permission.
