Consultation has concluded

Lancaster City Council consulted with residents on its intention to increase the number of Changing Places toilets in public places in the district, which closed 31 August 2021

Changing Places toilets are larger accessible toilets for severely disabled people, with equipment such as hoists, privacy screens, adult-sized changing benches, peninsula toilets and space for carers.

To be classified as a Changing Places toilet, facilities must meet set specifications and be registered by the Changing Places Consortium.

We recognise as a local authority that Changing Places Toilets are a vital part of ensuring accessibility to our facilities and open spaces. We are keen to ensure that families, visitors and other key stakeholders working with those with disabilities are able to enjoy public facilities and days out, whilst having the basic fundamental need for adequate toileting facilities met.

We are now considering responses, more details to follow
